Harrison Butker, kicker for the Kansas City Chiefs, has come under fire for remarks he made at a recent graduation speech. In his speech, Butker suggested that the majority of graduating women were most excited about marriage and children.
Butker's comments have drawn widespread criticism, including from his own mother, Elizabeth Butker. A medical physicist at Emory University in Atlanta, Butker has been at the university since 1988 and works in the field of radiation oncology.
In a statement, Elizabeth Butker expressed her disappointment with her son's remarks. "I am deeply disappointed by the comments made by my son," she said. "His views do not reflect my own, nor do they reflect the values of our family. I believe that women are capable of achieving anything they set their minds to, and should not be limited by outdated stereotypes."
